PREVIEW: Nuremberg (2025 Film) - Starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek

Nuremberg

Preview by Jon Donnis

Sky has unveiled the trailer for its new Original film Nuremberg, a gripping psychological thriller starring Russell Crowe, Rami Malek and Michael Shannon. Inspired by real events, the film is based on Jack El-Hai's acclaimed book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist and explores the eerie, mind-bending relationship between Nazi leader Hermann Göring and American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley in the aftermath of the Second World War.

Crowe takes on the role of Göring with an unsettling intensity, while Malek steps into the shoes of Kelley, a man charged with the unenviable task of assessing the mental state of Nazi war criminals during the Nuremberg Trials. Their encounters turn into a tense battle of intellect and manipulation, blurring the line between understanding and obsession.

Written and directed by James Vanderbilt, Nuremberg looks set to be a sharp, gripping thriller set against one of history's darkest backdrops. It brings together an exceptional cast, with Michael Shannon, Richard E. Grant, and rising star Leo Woodall joining the ensemble. Woodall speaks German throughout the film as translator Howard Triest, adding another layer of realism to a story already steeped in moral complexity.

The supporting cast reads like a who's who of quality drama, including John Slattery, Colin Hanks, Mark O'Brien, Lydia Peckham, Wrenn Schmidt, Lotte Verbeek and Andreas Pietschmann. Behind the scenes, the production is backed by Walden Media, Bluestone Entertainment and Mythology Entertainment, with a strong list of producers led by Richard Saperstein, Bradley J. Fischer, James Vanderbilt and Frank Smith.

Nuremberg will arrive in cinemas this November before making its Sky Cinema debut in 2026. Judging by the trailer, it's shaping up to be an unsettling yet captivating exploration of justice, guilt and the psychology of evil.
