Apple TV+ sets global premiere for intimate feature based on Bono's stage show and memoir

Apple Original Films has released the trailer for Bono: Stories of Surrender, a vivid and lyrical reimagining of the U2 frontman's one-man stage show. The film will premiere globally on Friday, 30 May 2025, on Apple TV+, with an immersive edition launching the same day on Apple Vision Pro.

Adapted from Bono's acclaimed memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, the feature offers a close-up look at the artist behind the fame. Based on his theatre tour, Stories of Surrender: An Evening of Words, Music and Some Mischief, the film explores Bono's life through storytelling, performance and personal reflection.

Filmed during his run at New York's Beacon Theatre, the documentary captures Bono sharing intimate stories about his upbringing, family, activism and the experiences that shaped his career. It blends spoken word with live performances of iconic U2 songs that have marked pivotal moments in his journey.

For fans seeking a more immersive experience, Apple will also debut Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive) on Vision Pro. Billed as the first full-length feature in Apple Immersive Video, it was shot in 8K and features spatial audio, placing viewers on stage alongside Bono in a 180-degree format designed for deeper emotional engagement.

The film is a collaboration between RadicalMedia and Plan B Entertainment. Producers include Jon Kamen and Dave Sirulnick, known for Summer of Soul and Hamilton, alongside Plan B's Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Bono also serves as executive producer, joined by Jennifer Pitcher and Kelly McNamara.

With a rare mix of humility, humour and history, Bono: Stories of Surrender offers a fresh way to experience the music and mind of one of modern rock's most enduring voices.

"Bono: Stories of Surrender" will premiere globally on May 30, 2025 on Apple TV+.
