Brand new CHARACTER POSTER for Paul Thomas Anderson's INHERENT VICE

Benicio Del Toro is Sauncho Smilax

The trailer is available on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/UIX830h6ueA

Synopsis
When private eye Doc Sportello’s (Joaquin Phoenix) ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a loony bin…well, easy for her to say.

It’s the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” that’s being way too overused—except this one usually leads to trouble.

With a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists... Part surf noir, part psychedelic romp—all Thomas Pynchon.

IN THE HEART OF THE SEA NEW TRAILER

Synopsis
Oscar winner Ron Howard (“A Beautiful Mind”) directs the action adventure “In the Heart of the Sea,” based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the dramatic true journey of the Essex.

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance.  The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick.  But that told only half the story.  “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.  Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

A New Home for Paddington Bear

Following his film debut, London’s favourite bear has now found a new home in Paddington Station, and his arrival is celebrated with a commemorative plaque.

London – 12 December 2014: STUDIOCANAL andNETWORK RAIL are delighted to announce today the unveiling of an iconic plaque in honour of Paddington Bear at Paddington Station, London, with the statue of the much-loved eponymous bear finding a new home in a prime location.

The plaque commemorates Paddington Bear’s unique ties with the station that gave him his name and saw him welcomed to London by the kind Brown family in Michael Bond’s book A Bear Called Paddington (1958). It also credits Paddington Station as a pivotal location for the filming of PADDINGTON, in cinemas now.

After almost 15 years in its previous location, the bronze Paddington Bear statue has now been moved to take pride of place under the station clock, with the new plaque installed on the wall to the left of the clock arch.

Nick Hartnell, Paddington Station Manager said: “The team at Paddington Station work very hard to provide a warm welcome to passengers, especially small bears. It was an honour to look after Paddington, however briefly, before the Browns adopted him. This plaque marks the spot in the film where Paddington first meets Mr and Mrs Brown on Platform 1.  As one of the most important stations in the world in heritage terms, Paddington ensures that Paddington Station continues that legacy and we are delighted to feature in his big screen debut.”

Paddington’s origins date back almost sixty years to when his creator, Michael Bond, bought a small bear from Selfridges on Christmas Eve 1956, as a present for his wife, and named him after the nearest railway station to which they lived.

In Michael Bond’s original tales, on his arrival in London the young bear finds himself alone in Paddington Station. Taken in by the Brown family, he finds a warm welcome and a safe place to stay and sets out to discover more about his adopted city.

The classic tales of the much loved bear have sold more than 35 million copies worldwide, been translated into over forty languages and captured the imagination of children and adults around the globe.

The film from STUDIOCANAL and Heyday Films is written and directed by Paul King (Bunny and the Bull, The Mighty Boosh) produced by David Heyman (Gravity, Harry Potter) boasting an all star cast including Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi, Jim Broadbent and Nicole Kidman with Ben Whishaw as the voice of PADDINGTON.

Synopsis:

From the producer of Harry Potter and Gravity, Paddington comes to the big screen for the first time in an epic new adventure.

Featuring an all-star cast and effects courtesy of award-winning VFX company Framestore, PADDINGTON is THE big family film of Christmas.

Voted Best Animated Character at the 2012 British Animation Awards, and adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books, Paddington follows the comic misadventures of a polite young bear with an endearing talent for comic chaos.

Paddington has grown up deep in the Peruvian jungle with his Aunt Lucy who, inspired by a chance encounter with an English explorer, has raised her nephew to dream of an exciting life in London. When an earthquake destroys their home, Aunt Lucy decides to smuggle her young nephew on board a boat bound for England, in search of a better life. Arriving alone at Paddington Station, Paddington soon finds that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family, who find him with a label tied around his neck which reads ‘Please look after this bear.

“Inherent Vice,” is the seventh feature from Paul Thomas Anderson and the first ever film adaptation of a Thomas Pynchon novel.

Directed by Oscar nominee Paul Thomas Anderson (“There Will Be Blood,” “The Master”) and based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon “Inherent Vice" stars Oscar nominees Joaquin Phoenix (“The Master,” “Walk the Line”), Josh Brolin (“True Grit,” “No Country For Old Men”) and Owen Wilson(“The Royal Tennenbaums,” “Midnight in Paris”); Katherine Waterston (“Michael Clayton,” “Boardwalk Empire”); Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon (“Walk the Line”) and Benicio Del Toro(“Traffic”); Martin Short (“Frankenweenie”); Jena Malone (“The Hunger Games” series); and Joanna Newsom (“Portlandia”).

Stars come out for The Paddington Trail auction, raising over £460,000 for the NSPCC

Over the last few weeks, London has been taken over by life-sized statues of the world’s favourite furry Peruvian explorer as part of The Paddington Trail, sponsored by Barclaycard. Last night,[Wednesday 10 December] Paddington fans and famous faces came together at Christie’s for an auction of the first fifteen of these unique pieces of art – raising over £460,000 for the NSPCC and its ChildLine service – and to mark the start of the much-anticipated online auction.

The event attracted plenty of high-profile guests including Paddington producer David Heyman, Hollywood actors John Hurt and Hugh Grant and renowned artists Tracey Emin and Marc Quinn.

Guests enjoyed a Paddington-themed drinks reception complete with marmalade martinis before the auction which featured the first fifteen of the exclusive bears designed by celebrities including David Beckham, Sandra Bullock and Benedict Cumberbatch. All of the bears attracted heated bidding, but a particular favourite was Marc Quinn’s bear which fetched the most on the night – a fantastic £58,000. In addition to the specially designed bears, the auction featured a Paddington-inspired neon created by long-time NSPCC supporter, Tracey Emin, which raised a staggering £62,000.

Speaking about the event, NSPCC Chief Executive, Peter Wanless, said: “We’re delighted to be part of The Paddington Trail – a wonderful initiative which has helped raise awareness of the NSPCC and our ChildLine service. Thanks to our generous guests, we’ve raised a fantastic amount of money, helping our ChildLine counsellors be there for children this Christmas – many of whom may have nowhere else to turn. But this is just the beginning as the online auction is now open, giving everyone the chance to welcome Paddington into their homes in the same way as Mr and Mrs Brown took him into theirs in Michael Bond’s stories, whilst supporting our work.”

TV presenter Jonathan Ross said: “It’s wonderful to see how much the live auction has raised, and I know that it will make a huge difference for children across the UK. But it’s not over yet! My design – the very stylish ‘Futuristic Robot Bear’ – and many others are being auctioned online by Christie’s to help raise even more money for the NSPCC and their ChildLine service. Make sure you bid before the auction closes on 7 January for your chance to own a piece of The Paddington Trail and support a very worthy cause.”

The Paddington Trail has been brought to the capital by STUDIOCANAL, VisitLondon.com and the NSPCC to mark the release of Paddington, currently number one in UK cinemas. The Paddington Trail features statues designed by a host of artists and celebrities and will run until 30 December.

For your chance to own a piece of The Paddington Trail and support the NSPCC, bid in the online auction at www.christies.com/paddington which features designs by celebrities including  Kate Moss, Ben Whishaw, Ant & Dec, Frankie Bridge and Take That, as well as Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
