INUK

The award-winning, gripping tale of a wayward teenager and a veteran hunter who take an epic dog sled trip across Greenlandm, is available to download in the UK from Monday Nov 9, courtesy of TriCoast UK and The Movie Partnership.

Winner of 22 awards and Greenland’s official entry for the 2013 Oscars, this enduring journey through the Artic’s harshest landscape begins with Inuk (Gaaba Petersen) watching his father fall through ice and drown. We then meet him as a sixteen-year-old living a troubled existence with his alcoholic mother and abusive stepfather. He’s rescued by a kindly social service worker (Rebekka Jorgensen) and sent to a children’s orphanage in a remote coastal town. There he meets Ikuma (Ole Jorgen Hammeken), a hunter who takes the emotionally withdrawn teenager on a dangerous dog-sled expedition across the frozen ice in an attempt to reconnect him with his ancestral heritage.

The first-time director, Mike Magidson and his co-authors Ole Jørgen Hammeken and anthropologist Jean-Michel Huctin drew their inspiration from a Children's home in Uummannaq, which is situated 500 km north of the Arctic Circle. It was shot entirely in polar conditions with non-professional actors.
